 Features of the Polyblock

STRONGER

Polyblock construction is more stable than traditional timber-based buildings. Concrete post-and-beam construction is inherently stronger against severe wind loads, including hurricanes and tornadoes. It’s also better able to resist damage and protect occupants from fire, earthquakes and flooding.

SAFER

The polyurethane foam used to make Polyblocks has a Class 1 fire rating for fire and flame spread protection under the Uniform Building Code and Canada's National Building Code. This high rating means that even commercial structures can be built with the Polyblock system.

RESOURCE CONSERVING

Polyblock greatly reduces the need for lumber in construction. It also uses less concrete than most other ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) methods. Below-grade construction with all cores of the Polyblocks filled requires 56 percent less concrete than a solid, monolithic pour of the same size and height. Above grade, concrete usage is typically reduced by as much as 75 percent.

LONGER LASTING

Structures built with Polyblocks last longer. They’re chemically inert and are impervious to dry rot, termites and other pests.

MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT

The Polyblock’s round-core configuration provides an amazing R-38 insulation value that delivers better energy efficiency than standard construction. With Polyblock, heating and cooling costs are lower, regardless of whether the temperature outside is cold or hot.

MORE COMFORTABLE

Inside an Polyblock building, air temperature is more consistent and outside noise is less noticeable. Polyblocks have an NIC (Noise Isolation Class) rating of 50, determined in accordance with conducted field testing. That means more peace and quiet inside.
